Toe-tapping Bhangra

The combination of music director Jawahar Wattal and Daler Mehndi seems to be going places with yet another album, "Ho Jayegi Balle Balle." Bhangra pop lovers, get ready to groove to the beats.

'Ho Jayegi Balle Balle,' in typical Punjabi style, starts off with a chorus. 'Dilruba-o-Dilruba' is a catchy typical brisk-paced bhangra number, luring tiny tots to twist their waists and dance to the beats.

But for non-Punjabi pop music lovers, it is just another 'catch it, flaunt it' types, on the lines of his earlier 'Bolo Tara ra ra', 'Dil mera nal nal' and 'Dardi rab rab', with a slight difference though.

Lyricists Sanjeev Anand and Daler Mehndi have contributed their best to romantic tracks, 'Yug beet gaye' and 'Tere mere pyar nu' which linger on and can receive an encore. 'Umaran langiyan' digs deep into the hearts of those who like to visualise situations with their music.

The new release seems to be Daler's experiment with slow romantic tracks in contrast to his usual toe-tapping music. One song has a quick clapping beat, something quite different.

Digital music recording is by S C Chawla on Magna Sound series of cassettes.

  1. I am a real fan of Daler Mendi. His brisk numbers not only make the tiny tots dance but also the elders. Expecting his new release soon. Balle.. Balle..
